General Information

What is VoIP?

VoIP, or "Voice over Internet Protocol" refers to sending voice and fax phone calls over data networks, particularly the Internet. This technology offers cost savings by making more efficient use of the existing network.

Is VoIP right for my company?

Medium to large multinational corporations will see the most savings, as they typically have both the network in place and the voice volume to effectively use Crosby' VoIP service. A company like this could save up to 50% off its long distance phone bill.

How much money will I save if I switch to Crosby VoIP?

Crosby' VoIP network offers significant savings to our customers - up to 20%, 30%, or even 50%, depending on their traffic mix. The VoIP network allows Crosby to leverage our own network and peering relationships to bypass the local telephone operators/ Interconnect charges in local country and provide our customers with low cost calling.

Crosby' VoIP Network offers a global savings solution:

  • Intra country calling
  • International calling, worldwide origination
  • Little or no CPE investment

How long does a VoIP system take to install?

It will take an average of 3 days to implement, though it could be done as quickly as 3 hours, if you already have the necessary equipment.

What type of equipment does Crosby VoIP require?

Crosby VoIP require a H.323 compatible device such as a Cisco 3600 or a 5300 series router, a minimum 256Kbps dedicated Internet connection, a voice card on a dedicated port, and a modern/compatible PBX or for a simple.

Do both sides of a call need VoIP in order to make a call?

Absolutely not. VoIP is "transparent." Once in place, you don't need to do anything other than place and receive calls, just as you regularly do.

Will Crosby VoIP have the same sounds quality as a "normal" phone line?

Yes, if not better! Crosby, as a telecommunications company, already has experience as a long-distance carrier. Our VoIP network is built over Crosby' global network- thus offering Crosby the cost effective option of terminating a call to the PSTN network. In many ways a VoIP call is traveling over the most redundant network known to man: the Internet. Crosby owns and operates an extensive global backbone network including 23 international and domestic gateway switches located throughout Europe, the America and the Asia Pacific regions. This network is supported by ownership in over 35 transoceanic fiber optic cable systems providing connectivity of Crosby' global network to over 250 countries worldwide. A call on the Crosby VoIP call avoids multiples hops based on our centralized routing and peering relationships. Crosby routes and monitors a VoIP call in the same fashion a regular voice call is routed. The call has multiple termination options that are selected based on quality.

Is a phone call made over a VoIP network secure?

Yes. While sent over the VoIP network, all packets are sent securely.

How stable is VoIP technology?

Very. It is based on the Internet Protocol, a proven, global standard.

Will my company need any special phone equipment for Crosby' VoIP solution?

With Crosby' VoIP offering, our customers can use their current phones and equipment. There is no need to purchase special phones.

Where is Crosby VoIP available?

Crosby is able to deliver VoIP service worldwide, anywhere there is an internet connection that supports the traffic. Whether your business is located in the UK or internationally, we can deliver. However, it is the customer's responsibility to comply with their country's regulatory laws.
