You will probably need one, or more, partners to help you
launch your channel:
Which platform will you launch on and what are your options
for launching the service and staying on air?
Who is the best technical services partner for you?
Do you need to source programmes?
Who will you work with to ensure you have the right
programmes?
These may include independent production companies,
other broadcasters and other content partners, such as rights
holders, etc.
What help will you need to meet the regulatory requirements?
Will you be using telephony services to boost revenues?
Which telco is the right partner?
This is particularly relevant for interactive TV applications
through fixed or mobile telephony.
Your content and technology partners will be the most important.
If you choose these partners carefully, they should be able to
help advise you on your other relationships.
The way that you choose and manage your partners is crucial.
Sometimes the most obvious route will not be the most cost-effective
or most flexible. For instance, if you decide to go onto the
Sky Digital platform it may appear that Sky Digital would
be the most obvious choice for your technology needs. This
may not be the case. There are several providers who offer
high quality competitive services for launching onto the Sky
platform. It is worthwhile evaluating the options you have
available.
