Crosby Communications announced that it has sold McKay Brown, its IT division based in Manchester.
"We strongly believe that the divestiture of McKay Brown was in the best interest
of the shareholders. Its operation now offers no synergy with our core business or with
the recent growth and strategy of our business," stated Matt Wilson, CEO.
"Since we purchased the business in 2006, it has enabled us to grow and acquire
contracts with the local government, central government and other businesses worldwide.
However, given the recent shift in direction the company has taken, it is no longer core
to our interests to continue supporting IT systems. We're very happy with the last 2
years of growth in the IT sector: McKay Brown has been a profitable acquisition, and we
will be sad to see it go, along with its very talented staff. However our plan was to
grow the business over the past 2 years and sell it, and today we have done so, to a
large business based in the UK."
Under a confidential deal completed today, McKay Brown, with its staff and premises, was
sold. Only staff employed under this division have moved across to the buyer, and Crosby
Communications, its staff, premises and network remain unaffected.
The sale will allow Crosby Communications to focus on building its large portfolio of
clients based worldwide, by developing innovative, niche products and services.
