At the age of 20, Ian moved into the business-to-business area of sales, joining Alcatel Business Systems as a trainee salesman for their Roneo Division. Within 5 years he had risen to the position of Senior Major Accounts Executive, winning contracts with Wolverhampton MBC, Dudley MBC, West Mercia Supplies and the West Midlands Fire Service.
When internal restructuring at Alcatel resulted in the break-up of their Roneo Division, an opportunity arose for Ian to change market sector and product range.
Ian left Alcatel for Capital Radio Group, where he was tasked with using his experience in sales and marketing to provide local businesses with the opportunity to use radio advertising as part of their media mix.
Although working on a full-time basis, Ian continued to educate himself outside office hours, learning new marketing and advertising techniques, and developing his sales skills.
At the age of 30, Ian was given the opportunity to work in London for the Exxon Mobile Corporation, marketing natural gas to the public sector. He became the UK's Public Sector Consultant for a team of 10 people, managing a portfolio with a turnover in excess of £50m.
With 22 years in the business, Ian brings to Crosby a wealth of experience in sales, marketing and management.
Outside work, his interests are music, short film production, and following his football team, Birmingham City.
